American Packaging Corporation’s Story City, Iowa facility compliments the Corporation’s full-service capabilities by adding superior flexographic printing with in-line adhesive laminations of a variety of substrates. The Division, also, produces a wide assortment of pre-formed pouches and bags. This division specializes in packaging for products that require demanding performance properties along with award winning flexographic printing of up to ten colors.
The Flexographic Printing and Laminating facility features both intermediate and wide web flexographic presses with in-line laminating and or coating capabilities. Our five presses/laminators run both solvent and water base ink systems and can print and or laminate in-line using either solventless or dry-bond type adhesives. FP&L specializes in film/film laminations including both 2- and 3-ply adhesive laminations. The facility runs a full range of substrates including films, paper and pre-laminated structures which could include various combinations of paper, film and foil. Additional capabilities include registered coldseal and heatseal coatings, breathable films with and without laser micro-perforations, pattern applied anti-fog coating, registered back side and ink jet printing. This facility is also equipped with the latest in computerized slitting and rewinding equipment and in-house DuPont Digital FAST plate making.
FPL manufactures preformed bags and pouches with extrusion laminations, adhesive laminations and coated structures utilizing both rotogravure and flexographic printing. A wide range of structures are available for a variety of applications including food items, non-food, agricultural and chemical products. Our line of bags include; heat sealed bags that provide sift resistance, moisture, oxygen and grease protection. We, also, manufacture large format K-Seal side gusseted laminated bags that can hold up to 50 lbs. Special features include thumb notches, tin tie closures, de-gassing valves, applied labels or booklets. We offer a Stock Bag Program of unprinted bags in nine sizes and several different structures. With a minimum order requirement of one full case our stock bags provide a cost effective solution to small volume applications.
Our preformed pouch machines produce 2 and 3 side heat seal pouches and stand up pouches. This equipment can run most heat sealable supported films, p/p/f/p and poly coated kraft structures. In addition we can supply enhanced barrier properties using Saran and or PVDC coated films to achieve the required barrier for your product and desired shelf life. Our equipment allows us the option of using different materials on the front and back of our pouches to achieve unique performance characteristics. Other value added features include; reclosable zippers, handle reinforcements, hang holes, tear notches, air release holes, de-gassing valves, laser scoring and wickets.
